"Eat Less Sugar" Competition

The children took part in a House competition supporting the Eat Less Sugar campaign. The children worked on three different areas within their house.

They needed to create a poster that would contain information about why the government might have come up with this campaign, how much sugar people eat and where it comes from and how they can persuade people to eat less sugar. Every house produced a colourful and informative poster. However, it was Beeches who were victorious with their poster, followed by Oaks and then Pines.

The second aspect was to create a healthy tasty recipe and explain the nutritional value and reduced sugar content. There were some mouth-watering healthy alternatives presented but again it was Beeches who came first, followed by Oaks and Pines in joint second place.

Finally, the children wrote and performed a rap to encourage people to reduce their sugar intake. This was thoroughly entertaining with the ‘Sugar Monster’ making an appearance for Pines, some excellent cheerleading by Mr Bryan with his Oaks team, and some fantastic beat-boxing by Casper, Oliver and Matthew for the Beeches team. It was Beeches who again were victorious, followed by Oaks in second and Pines in third place.

It was another great example of the children working together as a team to be creative and have fun. Well done to all the children who took part. See more in our Photo & Video Gallery.
