U11/10A Football win PGS Sevens Football Tournament!

On Wednesday 21st September the Under 11/10a team headed to the annual PGS seven-a-side football tournament. The first part of the competition consisted of five group matches. The boys started off in tremendous fashion, racing into a three goal half-time lead against PGS B, and adding a fourth goal in the second half. The next two games were closer affairs, with the boys winning both matches by one goal to nil. However, in each game the score could have been higher with a little more composure in front of goal. In the fourth match, having dominated for the most of the game, the boys switched off from a defensive point of view, allowing Stroud to take a one nil win. The boys knew they needed a win in their final game to progress to the semi-final of the cup competition and they duly delivered, racing into a three-goal lead before half time. This win ensured top spot in the group and a semi-final meeting against Churches College. The boys clearly listened to instructions given at the start of the game and dominated from start to finish. The win meant a repeat of the earlier group match against Highfield. The boys didn’t disappoint and actually saved their best football until the final, with clinical passing and solid defending from every member of the team. A goal in each half ensured a well-deserved victory, with every member of the team playing their part in bringing the trophy back to Sherborne House. A fabulous team effort! Well done boys!
