Year 6 Macmillan Coffee Morning

The Year 6 children hosted a coffee morning for their families to raise money for Macmillan Cancer.  Mums, Dads, Grandparents and children had clearly all been very busy at home in the kitchen, and had taken time out of busy schedules (working and homework!) to produce a wonderful selection of delicious cakes!  Alongside well-established favourites, such as chocolate, coffee and strawberry sponges and muffins, healthy-eating options were also available, and a brisk trade was done in banana cake, carrot cake and flapjacks!  The Year 6 children proved to have excellent skills as both hosts and waiters, and parents and grandparents took full advantage of the opportunity to be waited on for a change!  There was much concentration on show, as children balanced cups and saucers and delivered slices of cake and cups of tea and coffee to their waiting families.  Whilst there was much enjoyment of this social occasion, there was also a serious purpose too, and hugely generous donations from all participants raised a staggering £262.81 for the cause.  There was also a ‘Guess the Number of Spots’ competition to enter and the best ‘nearest the number guess’ was made by Ryan M.  We would like to thank all the children and their families for their hard work, support and participation in raising such a fabulous total for such a worthwhile cause.
