U11 ISA London West Regional Football Winners

On Wednesday 19th October, two Under 11/10 teams attended the annual Independent Schools Association London West Region five-a-side indoor football tournament. The first part of the competition consisted of four group matches. The boys started slowly, taking time to adjust to the size of the pitch and the size of the goals. No matter how many passes and shots the boys strung together, they couldn’t find a way past an extremely resilient Hawley Place defence. In the second match, whilst the boys controlled the game from start to finish, they couldn’t convert the countless chances, as the More House goal keeper pulled off a string of superb saves. However, the boys did finally break his resistance and secured a 1-0 win. The following two matches were a repeat of the opening two games, but this time the boys completely dominated Hawley Place and secured an emphatic 5-0 victory. Again the More House goal keeper kept his team in the game, before the boys managed to score to secure a third group victory. In the quarter-finals, the boys dominated the game against More House B from start to finish, and were comfortable winners 5-0. The semi-final was a much closer affair, as the boys came up against a determined Heathfield House side. Throughout the eight minutes, the boys controlled the game but again couldn’t quite find the killer pass to unlock another strong defence. The game went to penalties, and on the third kick, Sherborne House managed to convert whilst Heathfield missed, sending us into the third competition final of the half-term. For a third final in a row, the boys again put their heart and soul into the match, and within the first three minutes were leading two nil. Throughout the remaining minutes the boys were in complete control of the match, and scored one more goal to win the trophy and secure a place at the Under 11 ISA National Finals in March 2017 at Dixie Grammar School Leicestershire. The boys were a credit to Sherborne House and should be extremely proud of such a wonderful competition win!
