Cyber Safety Week

Safer Internet Day 2007 took place on Tuesday 7th February. To mark this event, we held a special whole-school ‘Cyber Safety Week’ at Sherborne House School. This was an important event to help promote the safeguarding and welfare of our youngsters.

During each day, we have focused on a different aspect of cyber safety. We altered the timetable slightly so that lesson one each day was a dedicated lesson, taught by Form Tutors, used to explore the complex world of cyber safety and to help our children understand how they can protect themselves and others when using the internet. In Reception, the children held special discussions in their normal timetabled activities.

Topics the children explored included communicating on-line and social networking; cyberbullying and how to report abuse, ‘friend or foe?’ gaming and collaboration.

In addition, on Wednesday, there was a special whole-school assembly on internet safety and the children enjoyed learning new cyber safety lyrics set to the One Direction parody song, ‘Who do you share your details with?’ which was not only fun but also contained memorable important messages.
