Bronze for Sherborne at Churchers' 7s

Travelling up to Churchers’ College for their annual sevens festival, the boys wondered whether the tournament would go ahead as the weather was particularly foul. Once we stepped off the bus however, the rain ceased, so sevens rugby would be played. The opening game was against the hosts, and the boys did not disappoint as they made tackle upon tackle before Ethan C-S found a gap in the defence to score the only try of the match. In the second match, the boys controlled the game for long periods, running in three tries whilst ensuring they kept any Sherfield runners in check. Boundary Oak’s sheer power caused the boys difficulty, and using this superior strength they crossed the try line four times.  However, the boys did not stop tackling throughout the match and on the final play, Scott K scored a deserved consolation try. The final game was against Prince’s Mead and the boys saved their best rugby till last against the team who had won all their games so far. The game throughout was an even contest, as both teams made countless tackles to repel each attack. SHS scored first but unfortunately could not quite hold out, and Princes Mead scored an equaliser in the second half. The draw secured third place and a bronze medal for the Sherborne House boys.
