7-a-Side Football Tournament Winners

On Thursday 20th November our U 9 boys’ football team took part in the PGS Inaugural 7-a-side football tournament. The first game played was against a good Oakwood team. A superb strike from Billy B gave Sherborne House the lead and we followed quickly with a second. A late goal from Oakwood was not enough to prevent SHS gaining their first victory of the tournament. The team’s second match saw them comfortably beat PGS B team 3-0. For their final league game they played Prince’s Mead and SHS secured victory with some fine shooting from Joseph W, ending with a 4-1 victory. As a result, SHS finished top of their group and qualified to play Ryde A team in the semi-final of the cup. A 1-0 victory secured their well-earned place in the final where they faced a strong Highfield A team. The final was a closely fought battle with both teams playing some excellent football. Nothing could separate the teams, even after five minutes of extra-time, and the score finished 0-0, the game going to penalties. SHS scored two of their penalties and two fine saves from Matthew E ensured SHS was victorious. Team: Joseph W, Billy B, Tim K, Euan H, Matthew E, Scott K, Michael W, Ethan C-S. All of the boys worked extremely hard and thoroughly deserved to win the shield. Well done!
