World Book Day

On Thursday 5th March, Sherborne House School celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as some of their favourite story book characters. All genres of fiction were represented in a wide variety of literary characters from classics such as Oliver and Alice in ‘Wonderland’ to the more current Katniss from the ‘Hunger Games’. The children thoroughly enjoyed showing off their creations in a special morning assembly, during which the true value of reading was discussed and the surprising book choices of some leading figures were revealed. The children learnt that Barack Obama’s favourite children’s book is ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and that David Cameron is a ‘Dr Seuss’ fan! The children completed book-related activities in their English lessons with some designing book tokens to submit to the World Book Day Book Token Competition. Thank you to all the parents who entered into the spirit of the day and went to such great efforts transforming their children into their favourite characters – they all looked wonderful!
