Southampton Music Festival

What a successful week the school has had at the festival! With 70 first places and lots of seconds and thirds, the school has been awash with pink and green medals. Cups were won by the following:

  • Chamber Choir – The Whitworth Challenge Cup and the highest mark awarded to a junior school choir. (Overall Winners)
  • Chamber Choir – The Percival Cup. (Two songs from the shows)
  • Year 4 Acting group – Ryan M, Ashwin A, Bea B, Sophie L, Erin W, Emily T, Isabel S, Sienna M – The Jean Francis Cup. (Group Acted Scene)
  • Year 4 Recorders - Sophie L, Erin W, Emily T, Isabel S, Sienna M – The Phylis Viney Cup. (Recorders with voices).
  • Robert E – The Brass cup for an outstanding contribution to the brass class.
  • Aadi R & Theo B – The David R Heard Cup No:3 (Creative writing – best poem).
  • Isabel S & Hannah S – The David R Heard Cup No 4: (Creative writing – best short story).
  • Sophia B – The Soroptomists Cup (Piano – 20th century).
  • Sienna M – The Wilfred Dominy Cup (Recorders – best player under 11).
  • Tanay V- The Tim Weller Memorial Cup (Under 11 Drama Championship).
  • Bea B – The Joy and Derek Sanders Cup (Under 9 Musical Theatre).
  • Tanay V – The Amelia Morse Cup (Best Acting Solo Under 11).
  • Hetty L – The Hampshire Collegiate Cup (Under 11 Musical Theatre).
  • Aadi R, Rhyseren T  - The Coronation Cup (Under 11 Musical Theatre Duo).
  • Rhyseren T & Briallen T – The Pauline Lee (Musical Theatre open).
  • Annabel S, Phoebe C, Tamara A – The Brenchley Cup (Musical Theatre group).
  • Tanay V – The Junior Vocal Cup for Boys (Best boy singer under 11)
  • Isabella LB  - The June Cowell Cup (Best girl singer under 11)
  • Ziphora C & Lucy K – The Doris Heard Cup – (Disney Song under 13).

Our Year 3 Choral Speaking was awarded the highest mark ever at the festival (94) and asked to perform at the end of festival concert on Friday 20th March. Also asked to perform were Aadi R and Annabel S.

A huge thank you must go to all the parents who brought their children to the festival either at the weekend, or walked up with the children on Thursday for choirs day. A special thanks also goes to the music prefects - Ziphora C, Lillie B, Lucy K, rock band prefect – Ankit N and Grace L for helping out with the actual running of the festival over the weekend. They did an excellent job.
