This term we have been delighted to welcome Mr Stuart McCracken to the Sherborne House team. He has shared the following for us to share with you all…
As a teacher, I have taught in schools in West London, Petersfield and Eastleigh, having graduated (B.Ed Hons) from Brunel University and (M.Ed) Bowling Green State University in Ohio, USA. I have been a Director of Sport and a Head of PE.
As a player/performer myself, rugby and cricket are my two areas of specialism. Although I love all sports and all physical activity, I had a trial for Scotland (rugby) at U-21 as well as playing a hat-full of games for the London Scottish first team. I was a schoolboy representative player for my home county of Lincolnshire in several sports and I still play and captain the Swanmore village cricket team (weather permitting!).
I have coached rugby at the U-15 and U-16 age grade for Hampshire and have coached club rugby for Petersfield from U-6 to U-15. I have also coached and umpired at Fair Oak CC with their junior section.
My stand-out sporting memories include: rubbing shoulders with some of the greats playing at the Middlesex Sevens rugby tournament at Twickenham, scoring a try to win the British Colleges rugby final, and more recently opening the bowling and batting with my son for Swanmore CC (and being outplayed in both!).
At Sherborne House, Mr McCracken is involved in sports teaching for Year 3 to Year 6, supporting with fixtures and extracurricular sport clubs. We are delighted that Mr McCracken has now joined our sport department to further its future development and success. Please join us in welcoming Mr McCracken to the Sherborne House community.
