Teaching Assistant

Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: Sherborne House School, Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire

Type of role: Permanent, Full Time

Reports to: Deputy Head

Salary: £17204

Working hours: Full time, term-time only, 36 weeks/ year, including 5 INSET days. Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. 

Sherborne House is a co-educational nursery and prep school, located in Chandler’s Ford, for pupils between 6 months and 11. Nestled in a leafy area, we are very fortunate to enjoy wonderful school grounds, as well as Hiltingbury Lake, which is opposite the school. Our pupils are nurtured and encouraged to take on a wealth of opportunities within and beyond the classroom. Job/Person Summary

Sherborne House School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic Teaching Assistant. 

We are a happy and successful independent school, with highly-motivated and well-behaved children, supportive parents and welcoming colleagues. An ability to establish excellent relationships with pupils and parents, and to work flexibly are essential qualities of the post, as is a willingness to participate fully in all areas of school life. Candidates must hold a minimum NVQ3 in childcare/child development or an equivalent qualification, and a GCSE at Grade 4 or equivalent in Mathematics and English and experience in KS2 is an advantage.

Job/Person Summary

Sherborne House is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and professional sports coach to join our team on a part time basis, for two afternoons a week, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sports and dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging environment for our pupils. The right candidate will be responsible for supporting the PE department, helping to ensure the smooth running of curricular and extracurricular sports and attending sports fixtures. The major sports at our school are netball, football, rugby, cricket, hockey and tennis.

Pre-Reception Practitioner

JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE: Pre-School / Pre-Reception Practitioner

RESPONSIBLE TO: Nursery Manager/ Deputy Manager / Room Leader

SALARY: £24,000+ (depending upon experience and qualifications)

WORKING HOURS: 40 Hours per week all year round. Excluding bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year.

Purpose of Post

To provide a safe, interesting and stimulating environment for the children in a variety of ways.

To work with the Room Leader to achieve the aims and objectives of the Nursery.

To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in Sherborne House School Nursery.

To implement the daily routine in the Nursery.

Duties and Responsibilities

To ensure all the children’s needs are met.

To provide activities led by the children’s interests.

To adjust activities according to the child’s needs.

Support all staff and contribute to the team.

Liaise with and support parents and other family members.

Attend staff meetings and training events outside working hours if required.

Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, for example, serving snacks and meals, occasionally loading and emptying the dishwasher and laundry as part of a daily routine.

Variable shifts between the hours of 7:30am-6pm over 5 days with a half an hour lunch break.

To engage in reflective practice, and use constructive feedback to continually improve.

Skills and Abilities

JOB DESCRIPTION 

POST TITLE: Early Years Practitioner – Apprentice

RESPONSIBLE TO: Nursery Manager/ Deputy Manager / Room Leader

SALARY: £13,500

WORKING HOURS: 40 Hours per week all year round. Excluding bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year. 

The Nursery Practitioner will be working as part of a team to ensure the daily needs of children between the ages of 6 months and five years are met within the Nursery setting.

 

Purpose of Post

To provide a safe, interesting and stimulating environment for the children in a variety of ways.

To work under the Room Leader to achieve the aims and objectives of the Nursery.

To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in Sherborne House School Nursery.

To give support and respect to other personnel within Sherborne House Nursery.

To implement the daily routine in the Nursery.

 

Key Areas

Safeguarding – observe and be alert and report immediately any signs of abuse or neglect. 

Act as a positive role model, using appropriate tone of voice and body language.

Team work – supporting colleagues in meeting every child’s needs.

Liaise with parents and staff.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Be punctual and reliable.

Ensure all children and parents are met with a warm welcome.

Operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery in conjunction with the Room Supervisor on a weekly basis.

Adjust activities according to the child’s needs.

Support all staff and contribute to the team.  Follow instructions of the Room Leader or Nursery Manager.

Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
