U10 Rugby PGS Plate Runners Up

Team: William P, Max S, Billy B, Thomas M, Fraser D, Michael W, Edward H, Saul C, Sam G.
On Wednesday 2nd March the boys travelled to Portsmouth Grammar School (PGS) to take part in their annual rugby tournament. In their first game they faced a strong PGS team but narrowly lost 2-1. In their second game the boys came up against Farleigh school and again narrowly lost 3-2 to last minute try. The boys knew they had to start turning these narrow defeats into victories. They faced Hampshire Collegiate College next and ran out comfortable 2-0 winners. The momentum and confidence was now with the boys and they ran out 4-2 winners against Oakwood. Their final group game the boys played Haselmere and drew 2-2. The boys finished third in their group of six. As a result, they qualified for the plate semi-final and were drawn against Prince’s Mead. It was a tight first couple of minutes but the boys eventually ran out 4-2 winners. In the final they faced a very strong Brighton College and eventually lost 4-1. A fantastic day of rugby where the boys tackled hard, ran well, but more importantly played as a team. Well done!
